Background

The expressway features a 3.5-kilometre airstrip in Shahjahanpur designed for emergency landings by the Indian Air Force. Furthermore, it incorporates advanced traffic management systems, dedicated industrial nodes, and eco-friendly alignment to minimize environmental disruption along the Ganga river basin.

The operationalisation of the Ganga Expressway slashes the travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from roughly 11 hours to just under 6 hours. This drastically improves the logistics supply chain for agricultural produce, handicrafts, and manufactured goods.
