US asks citizens not to travel Bangladesh amid pandemic

Eastern Times Correspondent, Dhaka, 22 AprilBangladesh has been added to the travel advisory list of the US State Department on April 20 stated as “Level Four: Do Not Travel”.

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 4 Travel Health Notice for Bangladesh due to Covid-19, indicating a very high level of Covid-19 in the country,” says the travel advisory section of the State Department’s official website.

The US State Department has added also added other 115 countries this week to its “Level Four: Do Not Travel” advisory list, putting the UK, Canada, France, Israel, Mexico, Germany and others on the list, citing a “very high level of Covid-19.”

On Monday, the State Department said it would boost the number of countries receiving its highest advisory rating to about 80% of countries worldwide.

Bangladesh reported 95 Covid-19 deaths yesterday which pushed the total number of deaths to 10,683 in the country.

The country also reported 4,280 new cases in the 24-hour period, with an infection rate of 15.07%, pushing the total number of cases here to 732,060. The current infection rate is 15.07%.
