Eastern Times, New Delhi: A 37-year old journalist along with his friend has been burnt to death in Uttar Pradesh allegedly by the son of the village Panchayat or chief. Three men involved in the act have been arrested. According to reports, the culprits have used an alcohol based sanitiser to put them on fire.
The journalist in a pre-death statement mentioned that he was burnt as he published their acts of dishonesty in his newspaper.
The incident took place at Uttar Pradesh’s Balarampur district, 160 kms away from state capital Lucknow. The journalist Rakesh Singh Nirbhik worked for a Lucknow-based newspaper ‘Rashtriya Swaroop’. As per reports, both Rakesh and his friend Pintu Sahu (34) were succumbed to injuries at the journalist’s residence on Friday.
While Pintu was spot dead with severe burn injuries, Rakesh was immediately taken to a Lucknow hospital. However, the latter too died after a few hours.
Before he breathed his last, a video relating to his confession of his writing regularly in the paper against the allegedly corrupt chief and his son went viral on social media.
The three culprits, Rinku Misra, who is the son of the Pradhan or village chief, Akram and Lalit Misra have been arrested four days after the incident who wanted to turn the incident into an accident. However, eventually they were caught.
