farmers protest Gajjan Singh died

Eastern Times , New Delhi: A 55-year-old farmer, Gajjan Singh, from Ludhiana had died of water cannons in addition to extreme cold in Delhi-Haryana border on Sunday evening. Protests by farmers over farm laws along the national highway were swept away by water cannons.

The family of the deceased has blamed the Haryana government for using water cannons for such a mishap.

Additionally, the farmers have blamed the centre for the death of Gajjan.

Deployment of forces at Delhi borders intensify as farmers dig in

The farmers now demand the centre to lift all the three agricultural laws immediately. This protest has further intensified after the death of Gajjan Singh.

His body has been kept at the morgue of Bahadurgarh Civil Hospital.

Expressing grief over the matter of the deceased and that of the farmers, Rahul Gandhi scoffed at Modi saying that “farmers are the strength of the nation, why are they on the roads and why are they crossing the borders and coming to Delhi covering thousands of kilometres,”?

Modi says that the new law is for the benefit of all the farmers. If so, then why are the farmers angry? Why are they not happy? Actually this law is for Modi’s capitalist friends and that it is meant to deceive the farmers”.

Gandhi also posted on twitter saying that we have to fight for the strength of the country.
