Eastern Times,New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed the delegates at the MSME National Conclave, organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on the theme “Empowering MSMEs towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” today in New Delhi.
At the outset, Birla referred to the contribution of ICAI and said that the Institute has maintained its authenticity and credibility during the last 71 years since its inception and has steadily improved its eminence.
Appreciating ICAI’s industrial and economic contribution, Shri Birla said that under the guidance of ICAI, GST and MSME support centers are being opened, which will provide guidance at more than 100 locations across India.
Regarding the contribution of small scale industries, Birla said that MSME sector is the strongest pillar of the nation’s economy.
He further observed that the millions of units of MSME sector are an economic engine for our country and make a huge contribution to the nation’s progress. Referring to the development of the MSME sector, Shri Birla further said that through MSME it will be possible to produce economical, sustainable, and good quality useful products, which can be exported across the world.

Speaking about the role of the youth, Birla said that our greatest strength is our youth power.
Almost 65 percent of our population is under 35 years of age, whose energy if used in the task of nation-building, will propel India in achievement of the goal of national prosperity and well being.
He further noted that Indian youth are working in leading roles in technical fields and also in the field of innovation. He added that Indian youth in the IT sector are known worldwide for their skills and leadership and if there is a clear policy and proper environment, then India’s entrepreneurs will be no less than anyone in the world.
Aatma Nirbhar Bharat is based on this energy and entrepreneurial spirit.
Talking about the agriculture sector, Birla said that India is an agricultural nation and in the coming times, there is a need to undertake large-scale changes through the use of new technologies and innovations in agriculture.
He stressed that there are many possibilities in the agriculture sector related to organic farming, food processing, and value addition in agricultural products.
Earlier, Birla was welcomed by the President of ICAI Atul Kumar Gupta.
