International Day Of Sports For Development And Peace Celebrated In Parliament House

New Delhi, 6 April : On International Day of Sports for Development and Peace on 6 April, 2021, a daylong virtual Panel Discussion was organized by the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) of Lok Sabha Secretariat in Parliament House Complex on 6 April, 2021.

Eminent sports personalities viz. Tennis Player Ms. Sania Mirza, Table Tennis Player Shri Soumyajit Ghosh and Archer Shri Abhishek Verma participated in the discussion on “Social Integration, Peace Building and Socio-Economic Development through Sports”.

Former Hockey Captain and presently, Minister of Sports, Govt. of Haryana Shri Sandeep Singh; Asian Marathon Champion, Dr. Sunita Godara and Table Tennis Player Shri Sharath Kamal Achanta participated in the discussion on the theme, “Sports: Health Promotion & Disease Prevention”.

Para Athlete, Smt. Arunima Sinha; Open Water Swimmer, Ms. Bhakti Sharma; Wrestler, Smt. Babita Phogat; Squash Player, Ms. Joshna Chinappa and former Hockey Player, Shri Mir Ranjan Negi took part in the panel discussion “Promotion of Gender Equality through sports”.
