DMP prepared to secure Modi’s visit says Monirul

Eastern Times  Correspondent, Dhaka, 14 March: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken all sorts of security preparations centring Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bangladesh on 26 March.

Narendra Modi will visit Dhaka on 26 March to attend celebrations of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Monirul Islam, the additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, came up with the remarks in briefing on security arrangements at DMP headquarters on Sunday.

While responding to reporters, he said that any protest against Indian PM’s visit will be controlled strictly. The DMP official also urged not to wage any such protest.

“Road map will be given to ease traffic jam during VIP movement in the capital during his visit,” said Monirul urging commuters to follow the road map.

Monirul, the additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, has been made an additional inspector general of police (current charge) today.
