Eastern Times, Correspondent, Dhaka, 24 November: Bangladesh on Tuesday saw a further spike in Covid-19 cases as the country’s health authorities detected 2,230 new patients across the country in 24 hours, taking the total to 451,990.
During the period, 32 more patients died from Covid-19 which put the total death toll at 6,448.
The death rate stood at 1.43 percent, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
So far, 366,877 patients – 81.17 percent – including 2,266 new ones, have recovered.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The infection number reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 6,000 on November 4.
Until now, 2,680,149 tests have been carried out, including 15,018 new ones, and 14.85 percent of the patients turned out to be positive.
Bangladesh is seeing 2653.98 infections, 2154.22 recoveries, and 37.86 deaths per million.
Until now, 3,422 people have died in Dhaka division, 1,242 in Chattogram, 394 in Rajshahi, 488 in Khulna, 215 in Barishal, 263 in Sylhet, 292 in Rangpur and 132 in Mymensingh.
