
Eastern Times Correspondent, Dhaka, 8 April: Bangladesh on Thursday reported the highest Covid-19 deaths with 74 more people succumbing to coronavirus, taking the nation-wide tally to 9,521, according to the health authorities.
Besides, 6,854 more people were diagnosed with the disease in 24 hours. The number of cases now stands at 666,132, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest day’s infection rate was 20.65% of the total tests.The death rate stands at 1.43%.
Among the latest day’s victims, 48 were men and 26 were women. 70 of them died in different hospitals across the country while four at home.
Moreover, 43 of them hailed from Dhaka, 15 from Chattogram, two from Sylhet, three from Rajshahi, seven from Khulna and four from Barishal division.
Meanwhile, 33,193 samples were tested in 243 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 4,915,758 samples have been tested in the country so far.
