Easterntimes, Dhaka, 21 October: No visitor can enter in Bangladesh puja mandaps after the evening during Durga Puja this year due to the coronavirus prevalence.
The Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP) sends out directives to puja celebration committees across the country with saying that the temples/mandaps (pavilions) across the country will be closed every day just after evening during the ongoing Durga Puja considering the coronavirus situation in the country.
Therefore, the Hindu devotees should refrain from visiting the puja mandaps or performing aarti after evening at the time of the biggest religious festival of the Hindus.
These directives have been disclosed in a notification of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad on Wednesday.
BPUP President Milon Kanti Dutta along with general secretary Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee said in the statement, “In the current situation, you have to decide whether to risk your life by participating in the puja physically and surrendering to yourself and your family members to Covid-19 or refrain from participating puja.”
“We all must remember that Durga Puja is a five-day event,” they said, “With everyone’s participation, the risk of coronavirus infection may rise. So stay away from taking responsibility for it. Keep the temples/mandaps closed for the public after evening as Maa Durga is omnipresent. Maa will surely accept your pranam that performed from home, she will not deprive anyone of her blessings.”
BPUP also requested the leaders of the committee at all levels to convey the message to the village level as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Udjapan Committee held a views-exchange meeting with journalists at the Dhakeshwari National Temple auditorium around 11am on Wednesday.
