Bangladesh hands over 10000 vials of Remdisivir jab to India

Eastern Times Correspondent, Dhaka, 6 May: The Bangladesh government has provided 10,000 vials of Remdisivir injection to India in a bid to stand by the neighboring country as it is fighting against the deadly second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata handed over the medicines to the representative of the Indian government at the border port of Petrapole, read a press release issued today.

These 10,000 injections manufactured by Bangladeshi company Beximco Pharmaceuticals are sent as medical assistance on behalf of the Bangladeshi people at the instruction of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the Covid affected people of India, the press statement added.

This was the 1st consignment of medical assistance including medicines and health protection items Bangladesh offered to India as support to the Indian people during this deteriorating Covid situation in India.

In the last 24 hours, up to 3,980 people died of Covid in India, the highest in a day so far, pushing total fatalities to 2,30,168. The country also set a new grim record in its daily Covid numbers with 4.12 lakh infections.
