Attack on BJP president: Governor sends report to Union Home Ministry

Eastern Times , Kolkata: Governor Jagdeep Dhankar sent a report to the Home Ministry on the incident within 24 hours of the attack on the JP Naddar convoy on Thursday.

The Home Ministry has asked the Governor to report the whole incident immediately after the attack. The convoy of BJP all-India president JP Naddar was attacked in the Shirakol area on its way from Newtown to Diamond Harbour.

The BJP alleges that the attack was planned by miscreants with support of the Trinamool Congress. While, Nadda was not injured, Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijay were injured. The BJP staged protests across the state in protest of the incident.

On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress alleges that the general public has expressed their anger through this attack.

Later in the evening, Dhankar summoned Chief Secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay and DG Birendra to Raj Bhavan.

However, the Governor tweeted after the meeting that two top officials of the state administration could not elaborate on the JP Naddar convoy attack or any other information.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Piyush Goel, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the incident that night.

Looking at the situation, Amit Shah said, “I strongly condemn the planned attack on BJP President JP Nadda’s convoy.

The attack reflects the reckless attitude of the state government and the law and order situation in the state. If the BJP President is treated like this, then it can be understood how the common men be treated”.

The BJP on Friday staged a state wide protest against the attack on the BJP president.
