4 JMB militants Arrests after gunfight in Bangladesh

Eastern Times Correspondent, Dhaka, 4 September : Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four militants following a gunfight In Mymensingh district of Bangladesh.

The incident took place in the district’s Khagarhar area during the early hours of Saturday, confirmed RAB 14 Commander Md Rokanuzzaman to Our Correspondent.

The identity of the arrestees could not be ascertained immediately.

Members of the elite force recovered a gun, locally made sharp weapons, and various equipment from their possession.

 “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive in the area. At one point the militants opened fire after sensing our presence forcing us to retaliate.

“The four militants were arrested from the spot after the gunfight ended,” the RAB 14 commander said.

RAB 14 will hold a press briefing at the headquarters of the battalion in Mymensingh later in the day.

According to sources, the arrestees are members of the Neo JMB, an offshoot of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
