250kg bomb found at Dhaka airport

Our Correspondent, Dhaka, 9 December: A cylinder-like bomb weighing around 250kg has been discovered at the construction site of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan, director of the airport, said the bomb was found when workers were digging a hole for piling at the construction site around 9am.

On information, members of the Air Force’s Bomb Disposal Unit went to the spot and identified it as a ‘GP Bomb.’

Later, they defused the bomb and sent it to Rasulpur Firing Range in Tangail to demolish, he added.

Experts assumed that the bomb had been there since the liberation war.
